The Lives of Ancestors in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries
In the 21st century, Kaštela appears as a “Forgotten Dalmatia”, filled with hidden houses and stories of traditions, culture, and a way of life that still permeates the modern era. On this tour, you will discover why and how the people of Kaštela left their roots and adapted to new environments. The focus is on waves of migration from the 15th to the 21st century, with particular attention paid to the late 19th and early 20th centuries—a time when viticulture and winemaking brought both joy and ruin.
The walking tour is suitable for all age groups; it takes place on accessible terrain, and most sites are located within a radius of 500 meters to 1 kilometer.
